The Problem: Too Many Hats
The problem isn't homeschooling. It's asking one family to do the work of an entire village.
Schools are designed to educate. Homes are designed to raise children.
But much of childhood happens somewhere in between—friendships, shared experiences, and a sense of belonging.
Traditional schools naturally brought many of these pieces together. Homeschooling brought learning home, but families were left to figure out the rest.
There was never a system designed to connect everything in between.
That invisible work quietly shifted to parents.
Suddenly, a mom or dad isn't just a parent anymore. They become a teacher, planner, friendship coordinator, activity organizer, coach, and community builder—all at once.
Not because they're doing anything wrong. Not because schools have failed.
But because homes and schools were designed for different purposes.
In systems design, when two independent systems need to work together, a meta-system is created to help them communicate without replacing either one.

The Missing System
Homes and schools were designed for different jobs.
Neither system is broken—but neither was designed to carry everything on its own. In systems design, a third system is often created to help two independent systems work together. That's called a meta-system.
Bridges aren't built to replace cities. They're built to connect them.
In the same way, a meta-system exists because the two systems (school and home) were never designed to work together on their own.
Sunnyside doesn't replace the home or the school. It brings them together, so families no longer have to carry the weight all at once.
