About

Our Story

Most homeschooling parents want the same thing.

We want our children to enjoy the freedom that homeschooling gives them.

But as time goes by, many of us start asking the same question: where do our children find their friends?

That was our question too.

Our daughter was learning well, but she didn't have a regular group of friends to grow up with.

At first, we didn't think much of it. We assumed we'd figure it out eventually. That friendships would come with time.

But as the years passed, we realized we weren't just looking for activities. We were looking for our people.

Childhood happens only once.

We thought it was just our family. But the more parents we met, the more we realized we weren't alone.

Almost every family had their own version of the same story.

Some couldn't find other homeschoolers nearby. Some only met a few times a year. Everyone was so used to counting months till the next hangout. And nobody ever says, “see you tomorrow”. That’s sad. 🥺💔

Parents felt like they had to organize everything themselves. But who has the time to keep doing that, week after week? HELP

So over the next year, we spent our days meeting families, talking with teens, hosting activities, and learning from every conversation we could.

Little by little, something became clear.

The problem wasn't homeschooling. It was something we now call Social Poverty.

It’s when children don't have enough chances to build healthy relationships, and isolation becomes normal.

The Problem:

Social Poverty

The World We’re Building

Social Poverty isn't solved by a single playdate or a yearly meetup.

Children need repeated time together. That's how strangers become familiar faces, and familiar faces become lifelong friends.

Belonging doesn't happen by accident either.

It grows when children have enough opportunities to live, learn, and laugh together. Every parent would give the world to their children.

So we asked ourselves...

What if we built that world together? What if each family shared a little of their time, so no child has to grow up alone?

Not just a place to learn, but a place to belong. A world filled with adventures, and friendships that grow stronger over time.

Because childhood isn't made of one big moment. It's made of thousands of little ones.

That's the world we're building at Sunnyside.

We hope you’ll be part of it. 🥹

Welcome to the Village.

Homeschooling is about so much more than education.

It's about shared values, and growing up surrounded by people who know your name. It’s about joining the same clubs together, and singing birthday songs face-to-face.

We believe every homeschool family deserves one connected journey, and the kind of childhood they'll remember forever.
