TheaterKid™ RTG — Production Mentorship Program
From Training to Creation. The workshops are over; now, the production begins. Repertory Theater Guidance (RTG) is our advanced mentorship program in partnership with PETA. This is where the students move into the "Director’s Chair" and the "Writer’s Room." Under the direct guidance of professional PETA writers, directors, and designers, our students will work as a repertory company to develop, refine, and polish a theatrical work from the ground up.
We aren't just practicing theater; we are building a repertoire.
The RTG Mentorship:
Collaborative Scripting: Working with PETA writers to develop original scenes or refine existing scripts into a stage-ready narrative.
Professional Artistic Direction: Mentors in choreography, music, and staging work hand-in-hand with students to elevate the "production value" of their performances.
Ensemble Discipline: Moving beyond individual talent to focus on the chemistry of the group—learning how a professional theater company operates.
Technical Integration: Students gain "Production Thinking" by understanding how lights, sound, and design choices influence the story they are telling.
The Purpose:
Creative Leadership: Empowering students to make executive artistic choices and lead their peers through the creative process.
Artistic Maturity: Moving from "playing a part" to understanding the social and emotional impact of theater as a whole.
Showcase Foundation: This program serves as the official "pre-production" phase for our 2027 Sunnyside Grand Showcase.
Who It’s For:
The TheaterKid Alumni: Students who have completed previous workshops and are ready for a higher level of commitment.
The Serious Performers: Teens who want to see the "behind-the-scenes" of professional theater-making.
The Production-Minded: Those interested in directing, writing, or stage management.
This is the step before the big stage. This is where the art gets real.
